Schulenburg High School District 28 2A Tennis tournament RESULTS:

 

The tournament was held at Starcke Park in Seguin on Friday & Saturday, April 5-6 with Stockdale directing the tournament.

 

The Junior Varsity Boys took the Boys Team Championship with a total of 20 points in Singles play:

Shane Mendel won First Place undefeated over Uriel Tovar of Nixon Smiley,

Jesus Moncada of Karnes City, & Regan Bozka of Halletsville

Jacob Michalke won 3^rd Place with a bye, a loss to Regan Bozka of Halletsville,

and a win over Regan Bozka of Halletsville.

 

In Junior Varsity Girls Division Schulenburgs Rylee Heller was the Singles Champion

defeating Ericka Sanchez of Poth & Ashley Boethl of Halletsville.

 

In the VARSITY division and advancing to Regional Tournament play at Texas State on Wednesday & Thursday, April 17 & 18.

 

In the Girls Division: TEAM CHAMPIONS

Singles Champion was Kelsie Fietsam with set scores of 1 & 2 over Haleigh Warlick of Karnes City and 2 & 4 over Aryia Rasmussen of Nixon Smiley.

Doubles Runners Up were Kristin Moring and Brooke Taylor with a bye followed by set scores of 2 & 1 vs Rios & Gonzalez of Stockdale,

and 2 & 7-5 over Flores & Guerra of Nixon Smiley

and a 4 & 3 loss to Halletsvilles Smolik & Guevara.

In the Mixed Division

Mixed Doubles Champions : Shannon Mikesky &Aristides Espinosa

with set scores of 0 & 0 over Lynn & Scheel of Stockdale ,

2 & 0 over Staton & Lee of Luling,

and 2 & 7-5 over Halletsville Shelby Bozka & Trenton McGee.

Runners Up Team of Britny Meyer & Mickey Olle with a

0,1 win over Urrabazo 7 dubose of Stockdale,

a loss to Bozka & McGee of Halletsville,

and a win of 3,4 over Staton & Lee of Luling

In the Boys Division: TEAM CHAMPIONS

Singles Play:

Runner Up-Wade Dillenbeck receiving a bye,

followed by a 0,0 win over Tristan Marquez of Stockdale,

and a 1-6 and 4-6 loss to Jordan Jackson of Stockdale.

3^RD Place Clayton Treybig with a win over Cullen Bauer of Poth,

a loss to Jordan Jackson of Stockdale,

and a Win over Tristan Marquez of Stockdale, 6-1,1-6 and 6-4

Doubles Play:

Runner Up Team of Ariosto Espinosa and Montana Olle winning a Playback match vs. Harrin & Flores of Luling, a first round bye ,

win of 1,0 over Bennett & Covington of Stockdale,

a loss to Leal & Leal of Karnes City 2, 6-4, and 4 . (see next page)

 

Also with a win for the Schulenburg Tennis Team in the Varsity Division were doubles teams of:

Seth Eckhardt & Michael Kubesch with a

3,2 win over Mendiola & Pena of Nixon Smiley

and a 6-4,7-5 loss to Harrin & Flores of Karnes City.

Samantha Gabler & Kayla Schaefer with a win of

1,4 over Angel & Grifaldo of Luling

and a 3,2 loss to Coston & Puente of Stockdale
